Trucking industry jobs

Where have all the trucking jobs gone? After graduating from an accredited truck driving school I believed that it was my foot in the door for a new career in trucking. Man was I wrong. After months of intense job hunting I have found that jobs are, well lets say, non existant. I have found that everyone needs someone with years of experience. I need a job to get that experience and that is very frustrating. With a solid educational background and a flawless work history I felt it would not be this difficult. Maybe it is just the economy. I feel maybe I picked the wrong occupation to go into. Can anyone give some direction.
