Not sure where to begin.  I was born and raised in KCK and when I graduated from KU, I moved to northern Minnesota.  While there, I earned a Master's degree and worked as an insurance adjuster.  Being like most people, I knew very little about what would become the mess we're all in now.  My wife and I worked as apartment managers and were untouched by the troubles plaguing everyone else.  I applied for a position with the railroad so my family and I could come back to the area.  One week before the announcements for hiring came out, I received my first of many emails stating that there would be a freeze put on the position.  By the time this happened, there was nothing we could do but come to KC.  We had everything in place to move and couldn't back out without putting ourselves out of a lot of money.  Now we're in the process of applying for whatever we can find.  I don't understand why so many companies are putting ads in the newspaper and online and not hiring them.  Telling me that the ads were planned prior to all this is ridiculous.  I will not stop applying for jobs, but at this point I feel like I'm wasting my time.  All over the metro there are companies who are interviewing for positions I know they aren't going to hire for and that really bothers me.  We've been living without healthy insurance, waiting for something to come from all the work we've put out there.  I just don't get it.
