CHICAGO- Missouri's Sean Weatherspoon entered the season considered as one of the top linebackers in the country. He will leave the season recognized as one of the best, as well. The senior has been named one of five finalists for the Butkus Award.
The Butkus Award is given annually to the top linebacker in college football. Weatherspoon enters the final home contest of the season with a team-best 93 tackles. He has 12 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. He is averaging 9.3 tackles per game, which is second best in the Big 12.
The other finalists for the award are Sergio Kindle of texas, Rolando McClain of Alabama, Eric Norwood of South Carolina and Brandon Spikes of Florida.
The 2009 winner will be announced Dec. 8th.
