TAMPA, Fla.- Aqib Talib is having some trouble playing well with others in the NFL. The former Kansas cornerback apologized to his Tampa Bay teammates after a helmet-swinging incident at a recent offseason workout.
Talib says he got in to a scuffle with offensive tackle Donald Penn at the workout. Talib swung his helmet at Penn but hit cornerback Torrie Cox. Cox was trying to break up the fight. He had to get stitches for a cut on his face. Talib expressed regret afterwards.
"A small altercation that kind of got bigger than we wanted it to be. I've definitely got to work on it...It's a family...I'm sure a lot of us have brothers and sisters, and you fight. It comes with being a family. We're all brothers out here. Me and Donald, we're perfectly fine today. It's behind us. We're ready to work hard and move on."
Buccaneers head coach Raheem Morris says he will handle the matter internally. Talib also fought with a teammate last year at the NFL rookie symposium. Morris is confident Talib will learn his lesson this time around.
"He had a situation like this last year. And you saw him grow. Last year, it was an off-the-field incident. This year it was an on-the-field incident. If he grows as much this year from this incident, then I'm going to love it. We're all going to love it."
