KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Royals are still searching for ways to light up the scoreboard. They have scored just 14 runs in the last six games.

That's after they fell 5-1 against the Minnesota Twins Wednesday afternoon at Kauffman Stadium.

Kansas City is now 11 games under .500 for the second time this season. The team fell to 33-44.

You can't blame Royals starting pitcher Gil Meche for the loss. He gave up just two earned runs in six innings and had five strikeouts.

But his defense didn't help him at times.  The Royals made two errors. Alberto Callaspo let a ground ball go between his legs. Willie Bloomquist also dropped a catchable ball in right field.

One bright spot for the Royals is Billy Butler. He went 4-for-4 in the loss and is batting .293.

The Royals continue their homestand Thursday when they open a four-game series against the Chicago White Sox at 7:10pm.
