KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Even Zack Greinke needs a little run support. He did not get any help from his mates as the White Sox blanked the Royals 5-0.

The Royals offense has been making average pitchers look like Cy Young winners. They certainly made John Danks look good Friday night. He threw 7.1 scoreless innings. Danks only allowed five hits and struck out seven while not allowing a single walk.

Greinke had a rough start to his outing when A.J. Pierzynski teed off for a solo home run in the second inning to make 1-0.

The very next inning Greinke appeared to pitch himself out of jam by getting Jim Thome to ground a ball right to Alberto Callaspo with two outs. However, the ball went right under Callaspo's glove for his tenth error of the season. One run scored on the play. Paul Konerko followed that up with an RBI double.

Greinke settled down later in the game. He gave up nine hits over six innings of work. He struck out six and walked one. Greinke's league-leading ERA went from 1.95 to 2.00.
