“It crosses my mind all the time,” Travid said. “I think about where would I be without basketball. I really don’t know.”
KANSAS CITY, Mo.- Venita Vann sits at her kitchen table looking through old pictures of her six children. Each photo has a memory. Each child seems so special.

“I’m their number one fan,” Vann said.

That's saying something considering Vann’s boys have a lot of fans. Her second oldest son, Travis Releford, is a sophomore guard at Kansas. He was a role player last season but is hoping for a breakout year.

“It’s early in my career. I still feel I can make an impact,” Releford said.

Releford was certainly an impact player at Bishop Miege High School. He was a high school all-American for the Stags. He also wasn't the only Releford on the court. Younger brother Trevor walked in Travis' shadow for years. Now, he is stepping out in to the spotlight. Trevor, a senior at Miege, has committed to play at Alabama next year.

“Everybody knew me as Travis’ little brother. I don’t think they think that anymore,” Trevor Releford said.

Thanks to the game of basketball, Travis and his little brother seem to have the world at their fingertips.

“It crosses my mind all the time,” Travid said. “I think about where would I be without basketball. I really don’t know.”
