Penney Claims First State Title

ST. LOUIS- The Penney football team stormed out of the gates and then held on for their first state championship. The Hornets beat Valle Catholic 21-17 in the Missouri Class 1 State Championship.

Trevor Dixon started the scoring by intercepting a pass and returning it 66 yards for a Penney touchdown. Keagan Prather added a touchdown run. Penney led 14-0 at the half.

Valle Catholic rallied in the second half. The Warriors tied the game in the third quarter. Michael Greminger ran for a touchdown and passed for another. Kevin Abts added a 25-yard field goal to give Valle Catholic the lead.

The Hornets responded by going 66 yards in four plays. Prather scampered in from seven yards out for the game-winner.
