KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The controversy over Larry Johnson’s Twitter comments is growing after he reportedly used a homosexual slur toward the media.

Following the Chiefs 37-7 loss to the San Diego Chargers on Sunday LJ expressed frustration.  The team has a 1-6 record.

After LJ left the locker room the Chiefs running back had more to say on Twitter.  His comments were aimed at head coach Todd Haley.

He wrote: “My father played for the coach from “remember the titans” coach played golf. my father played for redskins briefly. our coach. nuthn.”

After Monday’s practice some of LJ’s teammates said they don’t have a problem with Haley’s background.

“It doesn't bother me.  I believe in him and what he wants to do.  I think he wants to get better.  I think he's focused on trying to turn this program around,” says wide receiver Bobby Wade.

Another of Johnson’s tweets reads: “My father got more credentials than most of these pro coaches….google my father”.

Larry Johnson senior is a defensive line coach for Penn State.

Responding to a fan on Twitter LJ allegedly called the man homosexual slur.

Johnson declined to speak to the media until Thursday, which is when he normally talks to reporters.

Just after that I heard LJ mumble something else.

My reporting partner from the Kansas City Star Kent Babb, who was nearby, says Johnson used another homosexual slur when he turned away from reporters.

Johnson’s agent, Peter Schaffer, reportedly told ESPN that LJ’s tweets were meant as a compliment to his father.

Johnson’s Twitter account is now set to private.
