NORTH SHORE, New Zealand - Tyshawn Taylor's journey with the USA Men's U19 World Championship team couldn't be off to a better start.
The Kansas star guard scored a team-high 13 points to lead team USA to a 106-55 victory against Iran in the opening game of the tournament. The USA men will continue preliminary play on Friday when they face France in New Zealand.
"I think we've been waiting for this, we've been ready," Taylor said. "We've been practicing for a couple of weeks real hard and we were ready to take it out on someone else and I think we showed that today."
Taylor was 6-for-7 shooting. He went 1-2 from three-point range. He also had three assists and two steals.
