She was also named to the preseason All-Big 12 squad. Additionally, she’s a candidate for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award, honoring the achievements of student-athletes for their contributions on the court, in the classroom and in the community.
McCray has led KU to a 2-0 start. She’s averaged 23.5 points and nine rebounds per game. She’s made 8-of-12 shots from behind the 3-point line.
Kansas State senior Ashley Sweat also made the Naismith Trophy Preseason Watch list. In late February, the list will be narrowed down to the top 30 players in the nation.
In March, the Naismith Trophy voting academy will cut the list down to four finalists. The Naismith Trophy will be awarded at the 2010 NCAA Women’s Final Four in San Antonio, Tex.
