We're breaking new ground with this one. It’s the first time I’ve directed any complimentary remarks to David Glass.
I'm certainly not here to gush over the Royals owner but he is deserving of some props for having the foresight to extend Zack Greinke's contract.
The American League's new Cy Young Award winner will be in a Royals uniform for the next three seasons, but if they don't turn this mess around by then---Greinke will be out of here in a New York second when he becomes a free agent.
Glass has a reputation for being a tightwad, but he did ante up...tripling Greinke's salary. But the bigger story is what Greinke has gone through.
Glass and the Royals deserve credit for hanging in there with Greinke when he was going through a difficult period with a social anxiety disorder.
