Mangino said he would wait for the internal investigation to be completed.

“This is an internal process, I respect the process," Mangino said. "Even though someone thought it was appropriate to leak information, it’s still an internal process, I respect it, you know that’s not my style to leak information of that type.”

When asked if he knew there were players meeting with the school’s athletic director, Mangino said, “They were asked to meet. They were summoned to meet.”

In the end, he says he will wait for the process to be completed.

“Whatever their process is, I respect it, I’m waiting for their results,” said Mangino.

Will KU head football coach Mark Mangino keep his job?

That’s the question many people are asking after KU athletic director Lew Perkins announced an internal investigation involving Mangino.

Mangino is accused of striking at least one player and verbally abusing several others.

Recently, parents of some of the players had requested a meeting with Perkins to complain of Mangino’s actions.

The players met with Perkins Monday night and Mangino had a private meeting Tuesday morning for about 10 to 15 minutes with the athletic director.

"I can confirm an internal review is under way. It involves a personnel matter, and as a result, is confidential. It would be inappropriate for me to provide further information right now," Perkins said in a news release on Tuesday.

The internal investigation reportedly involves the school bringing in an unbiased consultant to evaluate the football program. That leaves KU fans waiting and wondering if Mangino will still be with the team. Sportsbybrooks.com posted on its site that Mangino is on the brink of being fired by Kansas.
