INDEPENDENCE, Mo. – The Missouri Mavericks received some positive news. Their goaltender, Doug Groenestege, has been named the Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Week.
Groenestege helped the Mavericks go 2-0 last week against Wichita. The Stratford, Ontario native allowed only one goal on the week. He stopped 46 of 47 shots. His first shutout of the season came on Halloween against Wichita. He stopped all 21 shots.
Groenestege captured two goaltender of the week honors and one goaltender of the month award for Oklahoma last season. Groenestege receives a special gift from Oakley.
