TOPEKA, Kan. - Someone in Kansas may be a whole lot richer!

Kansas Lottery officials say the winning powerball ticket was purchased in Kansas.

The winning numbers were drawn Wednesday night. The jackpot was worth $96.6 million dollars.

Lottery Spokeswoman Sally Lunsford says the winning ticket was sold in south-central Kansas.  That area includes Wichita and other cities in Butler, Barton, Barber, Cowley, Harper, Harvey, Kingman, Marion, McPherson, Pratt, Reno, Rice, Sedgewick, Stafford, and Sumner counties.

The winning numbers are 8-12-14-22-29 and the powerball was 22.

Lunsford says the jackpot is the largest ever won by a ticket sold in Kansas.

The previous largest jackpot won in the sunflower state was in 2000, when a group of ariline pilots had one of three tickets that matched  a $150 million dollar pot.

If taking the lump sum award, the winner would get more than $48.3 million dollars.
