ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Missouri's new state Education Commissioner plans to retire from her previous position, so she can draw from two sources of income.
According to the St. Louis Post Dispatch, Chris Wright Nicastro will retire next month as superintendent of Hazelwood Schools, so she can draw 80 percent of her $205,222 salary in addition to the $185,400 she will make as commissioner.
As Education Commissioner, Nicastro will also qualify for state insurance and benefits, and she will have use of a state vehicle.
Nicastro has worked in public school education for 32 years.
