CONCEPTION, Mo. (AP) — A northwestern Missouri monk is trying to keep the art of calligraphy alive in an age of computers and cell phones.
The St. Joseph News-Press reports that brother Michael Marcotte has been practicing calligraphy for close to 40 years.
Despite having access to computers, he continues to teach the skill at Conception Seminary College in Conception.
He also works at a company creating greeting cards by hand that are mass-produced on a printing press.
