LEAVENWORTH, Kan. -- Millions of dollars will go to help expand the Leavenworth National Cemetery.
The expansion will include 14,000 gravesites on 36 acres of property belonging to the Leavenworth VA Medical Center. The Department of Veterans Affairs awarded a $10 million contract to Zieson Construction Co., LLC of Topeka.
The expansion at the 123-year-old cemetery is expected to be complete by early 2011.
