KU Professor Who Taught for 52 Years has Died

LAWRENCE, Kan. - A longtime University of Kansas economics professor has died just months after retiring.

University officials today announced the death of Harry Shaffer, 90, who taught economics at KU for 52 years.

Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little said Shaffer had an impact on countless lives during his tenure at KU.

"Harry Shaffer touched many lives and educated generations of Jayhawks. On behalf of the entire KU community, I offer deepest condolences to his family, friends and former students and colleagues," said Gray-Little.

Services for Shaffer will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, 601 Indiana St. in Lawrence. Shaffer will be buried in Eudora.
