Woman Murdered In Cass County

Reported by: Aaron Keller
Last Update: 11/07/2008 10:12 am
HARRISONVILLE, Mo. - Fourteen detectives and four support staffers from law enforcement agencies around the Metro are trying to find out who murdered a Harrisonville woman.

A relative found Cara Jo Roberts, 30, dead in her home, in the 800 block of North Patton Street around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Harrisonville Police turned the case over to the so-called "Metro Squad," a group of law enforcement officers who assist small communities when major crimes occur.

A spokesman for the Metro Squad said there was a struggle inside the Roberts home, but would not say if anything was stolen or if the victim had been robbed.  An autopsy confirmed her death as a homicide, he said.

Neighbors told NBC Action News that Roberts was a wonderful mother and wife who was always spending time with friends and family.  Some said that she was well-known in the area because she worked at a Harrisonville tire dealership with her husband and his relatives.

Detectives with the Metro Squad went door to door Thursday night, speaking with neighbors about any suspicious activity in the area.

So far, authorities have not placed anyone under arrest and have not released the identities or descriptions of any possible suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS or submit a tip online.
