KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Flu season is here and it's the time to consider getting a seasonal flu vaccine and the H1N1 vaccine. The Centers for Disease Control says each flu vaccine contains three influenza viruses. The viruses in the vaccine change each year based on international surveillance and scientists' predictions about which strains will circulate in a given year. Maxim Health Systems is offering seasonal flu shots at area Target and Costco stores in September, October and November 2009. If you have any questions about swine flu, Missouri health officials have started a hotline number to provide answers. It will be staffed 24 hours a day. Just call 1-877-FLU-4141. Some flu shot clinics have been canceled due to limited availability of the vaccine.
