JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Department of Natural Resources says water quality at Weatherby Lake has improved.

A power failure allowed a thousand gallons of raw sewage to spill into the lake on Oct. 28, 2009.

That spill resulted in unacceptable levels of E. coli bacteria in the lake a few days later.

The DNR now says the water quality has improved, and the E. coli levels are below the federal recommended maximum.

The lake was reopened based on sample results, and residents have been notified the lake is reopened.
