Veterans Day, observed November 11th each year, is a holiday honoring American military veterans. 

Veterans Day is a federal and state holiday in all states, "dedicated to the cause of world peace" according to the Congressional Act declaring the holiday.  Federal and state offices, along with many banks and other businesses, are closed in observance of Veterans Day.
