KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A special ceremony to honor our nation's veterans is set for Wednesday morning at the National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial.
The event will start at 10 a.m. It will include performances by the American Legion Band and a series of speeches. The keynote speaker is Dr. James H. Willbanks, Director of the Department of Military History at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
The ceremony will end at 11 a.m. with the laying of a wreath. The event is free and will be held indoors in the National World War I Museum's J.C. Nichols Auditorium.
At 1 p.m., two stamps honoring Alvin York (the most decorated soldier of the Great War) and Gary Cooper (the Academy Award winning actor who played York in Sergeant York) will be unveiled in the same auditorium.
Admission to the National World War I Museum will be free from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in honor of Veterans Day.
