EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, Mo. – Police tell NBC Action News they are investigating a possible kidnapping in Excelsior Springs.
Officers tell us a 23-year-old female was hit and thrown into the back of a car on South Myrtle around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Witnesses say the woman is Carol Ann Thomas. She has brown hair and brown eyes, is about 5 foot 5 and weighs about 145 pounds, according to neighbors. People in the area Wednesday night say Thomas was arguing with a group of men when she was attacked and thrown in the back of a vehicle. Chris Lynn, a friend of Thomas, says the men were armed.
"I heard 'call the cops' and then I heard 'gun'," Lynn said. "The guy had a gun and a tazer and we found the tazer."
Investigators said they were looking for three men driving a red Pontiac Grand Am, which has since been found burned about 10 milies from Excelsior Springs near Lawson in Ray County, Mo. The men had not been located by 9:15 a .m. Thursday.
Neighbors say Thomas was wearing a white baseball cap with a black wolverine on it, jeans with a tear on the side and an Adidas jacket.
Lynn says Thomas had been on the phone, fighting with her boyfriend of three years, about twenty minutes before the attack.
"I went out there to see if she was ok. She was crying but she said she was fine," said Lynn. "I knew something was wrong and then twenty minutes later, she came out front to leave and all of a sudden, was getting beaten and thrown in the trunk of a car."
