LAWRENCE, Kan. – Two women were seriously hurt early Saturday morning after falling off a retaining wall.

Police say the two were sitting at the wall at the intersection of 9th And Emery around 1:30 a.m., when they fell.

According to Douglas County emergency dispatchers, the two women were taken to the University of Kansas Medical Center with what could be described as life-threatening injuries.

Dispatchers say they have no more information on their conditions.

Police have not released the names of the victims.

Investigators say they are not sure if alcohol was a factor.
