GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. -- It took about 40 firefighters from several fire departments nearly an hour to bring a fire under control at a house in Grain Valley.
Central Jackson County Assistant Fire Chief Eddie Saffell says the house is in the 600 block of South Main Street.
Dispatchers say they sent units to the house just before 4 p.m. Thursday. After calling for a second alarm response, Central Jackson County firefighters got help from Lee's Summit, Sni Valley, Oak Grove and Fort Osage fire departments.
The fire was brought under control just after 4:30 p.m.
Fire officials say the fire was contained to one wing of the residence, and damages are estimated at $150,000. The cause is officially listed as "accidental".
There are three homes on the property, and no one was inside the burning house at the time of the fire.
Although hot weather made work difficult for firefighters, no injuries are reported.
