OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The recent storms which have hit the metro are keeping tree services working around the clock.
Take Sunshine Tree and Lawn for example. The phones starting ringing off the hook Thursday at 5:30 a.m.
Todd Baker’s crew spent the day under the hot sun in the humid conditions pulling rees and branches out of people’s yards, fences and off homes.
"Most people were happy to so us clean up their yard, so they could get on with their business,” said Baker.
Van Booven tree service has been hard at work since 6:30 a.m. cleaning up debris and fallen limbs throughout Prairie Village, Kan.
They finished up cleaning fallen trees and lots of limbs at Harmon Park just before 6 p.m.
At the height of the storm, more than 12,000 people were without power in Johnson Co., Kan, Wyandotte Co., Kan. and Jackson Co., Mo.
That number stood at 180 around 7 p.m. Thursday.
One family near 74th and Antioch got out the candles and board games and had a camp-out in the middle of their living room.
"We just played Sorry and stuff the whole night. We slept downstairs because it was cooler," said Jana Long.
