Tips for Your Children to Avoid Stranger Danger

RAYTOWN, Mo.- After a Raytown student reported that a stranger tried to abduct them, parents in the district receieved a letter outlining tips you can use to talk to your kids about the danger of strangers.

A letter sent home by school officials explained that a stranger driving a black car asked a child to get into their car. The child said no and ran towards the school, reporting the incident to school officials.

Officials urge all parents to review these tips about Strangers with their children.

1. Do NOT talk to strangers. 
2. Do NOT approach a car if you don't know the driver or passengers. 
        -Remind your children that adults do not need help from children with directions, finding a lost pet, or looking for something. 
3. If approached, yell in a loud voice, "I don't know you. Help. I need an adult." 
4. If approached, immediately report any incidents to an adult. 

Fortunately, the child approached in Raytown was not hurt and did follow these rules by running away and telling an adult.
