Teenager Girl Sentenced in Murder of Store Manager

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - A teeange girl will spend more than three years in a juvenile jail for her part in the murder of a store manager.

Amber Russell, 19, received the sentence Wednesday in Wyandotte County District Court.

Russell will be in juvenile custody until she is 22-and-a-half years old, according to a press release from the Wyandotte County District Attorney's Office.

She also will be in after care until she is 23 years old.

Bell pleaded guilty to her part in the November 2005 murder of Robin Bell.

Bell was found dead inside the Bonner Springs Dollar General Store where she worked as a manager.

Bell's family and police spent months urging anyone with information about her murder to come forward.

Detectives got a break when one of Russell's co-defendants told police details about the crime that had not been made public.

The other two defendants, John Backus and Robert Haberlein, are serving life prison sentences for the killing.
