The Platte County Sheriff’s Department accuses Caleb Hayes of carjacking and stabbing two people on July 5, 2009.
PLATTE COUNTY, Mo. - The Platte County Sheriff’s Department is asking for help in locating 28-year-old Caleb Hayes who is accused of carjacking and stabbing two people early Sunday morning.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, deputies received a 911 call at 2:55 a.m. of a stabbing at a Fourth of July party in the 11000 block of Walnut Creek in South Platte County.

When deputies arrived, they found two people suffering from stab wounds. Both victims were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and are expected to be released Sunday.

The suspect, Hayes, had left the area before the deputies arrived.

Hayes reportedly arrived at the party with two females around 9 p.m. and left around midnight. The three returned around 2 a.m. and while at the home, Hayes allegedly got into an argument outside and an altercation ensued with two people being stabbed.

Witness statements confirm Hayes as the person carrying the knife and stabbing the victims.
Witnesses also said that while Hayes was leaving the area, he threatened the driver of a 1996 old Buick Regal, owned by one of the people with Hayes, with the knife to stop the vehicle. Hayes allegedly took control of the car and drove into Kansas and back into Missouri before stopping in the City Market area.

While stopped in a parking lot, the owner and friend got out of the vehicle and ran for their safety leaving Hayes still in the vehicle.

The Platte County Sheriff’s Department is requesting assistance in locating Hayes.

Hayes is 5 foot 11, 190 pounds, and has several tattoos on his arm.

Anyone having information regarding Hayes’ location or information about the incidents is encouraged to contact the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS.
