SHAWNEE, Kan. – Police say a standoff that started early Tuesday morning ended hours later when the suspect took his own life.

Shawnee Police were called to the 6300 block of Longview around 4:40 a.m. on a report of a man violating a No Stalking Order issued by Johnson County.

Department spokesman Bill Hisle said 34-year-old Jamey Lee Granato was making unwanted phone calls and text messages to his estranged wife.

Hisle says when officers arrived at the house Tuesday morning, the man barricaded himself inside the house, refused to come out and fired two gunshots into the back yard.

The Shawnee Police Department brought in its STAR Team, a tactical unit, to assist in ending the situation.

After several hours of tyring to contact Granato, officers entered the home and found him dead from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Nobody else was injured in the incident.
