Snow, Ice Cause Power Outages in Kansas

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Ice and snow Thursday night had more than 4,000 people without power early Christmas morning.

A spokeswoman with Kansas City Power & Light says about 2,700 people were without power in Shawnee County, roughly 1,400 in Franklin County, and another 130 customers Johnson County had no electricity as of 5:15 a.m.

About 1,000 outages total were also reported in Anderson, Morris, Elk and Dickinson counties.

In Missouri, Platte-Clay Cooperative Power Company says about 2,900 customers were without power in Lathrop, Turney and Cameron for about an hour Thursday night when three substations went out, but only one outage was reported early Friday.
