HOLDEN, Mo. – Police believe the suspects who shot at police officers during a chase after a bank robbery Wednesday morning in Holden, Mo., stole a flatbed truck from a home near the bank.
The two men, who robbed the Farmers & Commercial Bank, 124 W. Second St., at 9:30 a.m., burned their initial vehicle in a Johnson County, Mo., field and stole the truck.
The white Chevrolet, with a black flatbed and license plate number 32A-8DJ, was last seen around 11:40 a.m. on 101 Highway heading towards 13 Highway in Johnson County, Mo.
Police K9 units searched an area in Chilhowee, just outside Holden, where they believe the suspects may have been shortly after the robbery and shooting. A smoldering vehicle that fits the description of the original suspect vehicle was found in a field there.
An FBI spokesperson says shots were fired at a Johnson County, Missouri Sheriff's Deputy and at a Holden police officer. In both incidents, the officers' cars were struck but no one was injured.
