Shon Pernice was arrested July 4, 2009 for disturbing the peace after neighbors complained he was yelling outside his home in North Kansas City.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Shon Pernice, the husband of a missing woman presumed dead by authorities, was arrested late Saturday night for disturbing the peace.

According to officers, neighbors of Shon called police on the Fourth of July and said that Shon was acting strangely, and was yelling and screaming outside his home at 1105 N.W. 66th Terrace.

When officers arrived, the caller signed a summons for peace disturbance and Shon was placed under arrest around midnight.

He was transported to HQ detention in lieu of a $100 bond. He posted bond at 12:20 p.m. Sunday and left the jail.

By the time Shon returned to his northland home, neighbors detailed a ruckus night.

"It was very obvious he had too much to drink because he was having trouble walking," said a woman who asked not to be identified.

She attended a Fourth of July party at a northland neighborhood park near 64th and Jarboe. She said Shon showed up with his 9 and 7-year-old sons. Witnesses say Shon grew belligerent.

Police arrested him for screaming at a neighbor, the same neighbor who accused Shon of stealing his gun. Shon appeared in Clay County court this week on felony theft charges. He was arrested in February on a gun theft charge unrelated to the disappearance of his wife, 35-year-old Renee Pernice.
"Whenever we hear anything about him our first thought is how does that affect the grandsons," said Linda Lockwood, Renee's mother.

Renee has been missing since Jan. 2 from her North Kansas City home. In February, the Clay County Prosecutor’s office said the case was going to proceed as a death investigation.

In a report released in January, police say they found blood in Renee’s garage and divorce papers in her office.

The report also states that Shon gave conflicting stories about when she disappeared.

"We think the report stands on its own. We believe it shows how hard the police are working," Renee’s father told NBC Action News soon after the report was released.

Renee and Shon have two children together. Shon also has a daughter from a previous marriage.

Shon told his wife's relatives that he last saw her on New Year's Day, according to an affidavit for a search warrant on the Pernice home, but told detectives several days later that he last saw her on Jan. 2.

Renee's body has not been found and authorities say while there were dozens of leads in the case, they have no suspects.

Shon remains a person of interest in the case. Renee's father Rick Pretz wants action.

"After six months of Renee being gone there's a frustration level that no one is under arrest," he said.

Sunday, detectives returned to the Pernice's neighborhood. They will only say the investigation into Renee's disappearance continues.

"It's terrible. The next best thing we can do is to protect her children," said Pretz.

Renee's parents are fighting for custody for Renee's two boys. They claim Shon is an unfit father. Shon currently has custody of the two boys. The grandparents are allowed to see them once a week under supervision at a monitored facility.

Shon has not been arrested or charged in the disappearance of his wife Renee.
