HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A sex offender who escaped Saturday from the Hutchison Correctional Facility has been captured.
Steve Genton, 39, from Olathe, was sentenced in December in Labette County, Kan., after being convicted of two counts of rape of a child under 14, one count of rape, and two counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor.
Genton would not have been eligible for parole until at least July 2020.
He escaped from the medium-security area of the prison and was returned to custody sometime Monday. No other information about his capture was made immediately available.
