KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Schools in and around Kansas City will remain closed for the second consecutive day Tuesday, while others wait out the final days of winter vacation wondering if they'll return at all this week.

The Kansas City School District was closed Monday as well, while other districts, like Hickman Mills, chose not to bring students back on their first day of scheduled classes Tuesday.

Raymore-Peculiar, which cancelled classes Monday, chose to have classes Tuesday.

In Kansas, Olathe schools aren't due back until Thursday, but NBC Action Weather Meteorologist Brett Anthony says another round of 2 to 4 inches of snow could hit Kansas City Wednesday, while the bitter cold temperatures that have ravaged the region the last several days are set to bottom out Friday and Saturday with lows well below zero both days.
