Last Update: 5/06 7:40 pm
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (AP) - The owner of a Mexican restaurant in St. Joseph is accused of paying someone to kill a 23-year-old cashier whose body was found dumped on a rural northwest Missouri road.

Prosecutors charged 44-year-old Antonio Ornate on Tuesday with first-degree murder in the death of Antonio Jose Maravilla-Vargas. Ornate is accused of paying someone $2,000 to kill Maravilla-Vargas, an amateur musician/disc jockey who played during special events at Ornate's restaurant, La Mesa Mexican Restaurant.

Police say the victim's body was found Saturday night on a county road north of Amazonia in Andrew County after someone called to say they had seen two people dumping a body. Officals say Maravilla-Vargas was shot execution-style with at least one bullet to the head.
