KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The American Red Cross postponed the rest of their seasonal flu clinics because of a vaccine delay.

The group ordered 8,000 doses of the vaccine when the clinics were first postponed on Oct. 2. Since then they have only received 500 of those doses. American Red Cross was informed by the vaccine providers they will eventually receive all 8,000 doses.

The clinics were scheduled to run until Nov. 15.

Warren Hawblitzel, Chapter health and safety director says, "so far, we've received shipments in very small quantities maybe 50 at a time. That's far fewer than normal shipments, and not enough to reliably restart our regular clinics."

Those few doses did not go to waste. The Organization used them to vaccinate those in nursing homes and shelters.

The American Red Cross plans to reschedule all of the 84 clinics that have been postponed.
