The heat is getting turned up on propane suppliers who reduced the weight of their tanks from 17 lb to 15 lbs when gas prices spiked. Class action lawsuits have been filed and
Call for Action did an investigation and found 75 percent of Missouri retailers are not following state law.
AmeriGas openly admits it reduced the size of it's tanks, but says it also immediately changed its cylinder label to make sure consumers were aware of the change in weight.
"Unfortunately, some consumers feel they were not sufficiently informed and that's a serious concern to us," AmeriGas told Call For Action in an e-mail.
That's why AmeriGas is offering a $2.50 rebate to consumers who used the cylinder exchange. All you have to do is
download the official rebate form and mail in a proof-of-purchase from your AmeriGas propane cylinder. Only one rebate is allowed per household. The rebate expires at the end of the year. For more information, a special rebate
promotional Web site is setup to answer your questions along with a phone number. Just call
