RAYTOWN, Mo. – ‘The House that Volunteers Built’ welcomes the public for its grand opening.
Raytown Emergency Assistance Program (REAP) has a brand new facility at 9300 E. 75th St., in Raytown.
The mission of REAP is to help those in need by providing a food pantry and financial assistance to families within the Raytown C2 School District. When the program began, REAP served 75 families a month. Twenty-seven years later, 350 families a month now get help through REAP’s services.
The new building includes a larger food pantry and space for private consultations, community hall meetings and classes for adults.
Director Al Brown says the new REAP house was truly built by volunteers. The land was donated by Ken Blom of Stratford Development, along with supplies and donations from contractors, as well as multiple private and commercial sources.
The public is invited to an open house from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009.
