PLATTE CITY, Mo. -- After being out for several hours, phones and power have been restored to all buildings in the Platte County R-3 School District.
District officials say a transformer apparently blew outside Platte County R-3 High School early Monday morning, causing the outage.
Students and staffers did their best to function without electricity for the beginning hour or two of the school day while repairs were made.
No students were dismissed and everything was back to normal by about 10 a.m. Monday.
Kansas City Power & Light (KCPL) reported more than 1800 Platte County customers without power at about 8 a.m. Monday. Most of those affected were in, or north of, Farley, Mo. KCPL reported all power restored to those areas as of 11 a.m.
KCPL reports some individual, isolated outages in various parts of the Kansas City area but none are affecting a large number of customers.
