OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Local heroes to people in need were honored Thursday at the 7th Annual Philly Awards Luncheon.
Twenty five nonprofit organizations and their creative partners won awards for their work to make Kansas City a better place for all types of people.
Perhaps most touching was the “People’s Choice” Award for the Ronald McDonald House video of Izzy’s Story.
Izzy is a young brain cancer patient whose parents feel blessed to have Ronald McDonald House as their family travels through a difficult journey.
Izzy is a heart stealing little girl, with her charm emanating through video, photos and music.
Equally moving, the 1st Place video of Chris Brown, a Washington High School student, killed by a drunk driver who had previously made a decision to donate his organs.
Because of that decision, many people are alive today with Chris’ organs.
Because of that decision, many people are alive today with Chris’ organs.
The Philly Awards are presented by Nonprofit Connect, an organization that helps local nonprofits learn and grow.
