Pedestrian Killed in Platte County

PLATTE CITY, Mo. – A man was killed late Sunday night when he walked in front of traffic on a Northland highway.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, the incident happened about 11:50 p.m. on I-29 south of Highway 92.

The report said Robert Lay, 69, walked into the path of a car headed south on I-29.

Lay was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jackson County medical examiner. Lay’s hometown was not listed on the crash report.

The driver of the car, a 24-year-old Marceline, Missouri woman, was not hurt.
