PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan. - Prairie Village police say they're on the hunt for a woman who repeatedly attacked a man in his eighties early Tuesday morning.
They say the attack occured when he went to the grocery store with his wife.
Prairie Village police say it's the most violent attack against a victim they've investigated in a long time.
Harold didn't want to be identified with his last name.
His face is bruised and his eyes are nearly swollen shut.
Harold says the attack occured after he dozed off in the parking lot of the Prairie Village HyVee grocery store.
He was waiting for his wife who was shopping inside.
He says that's when a woman walked up to his driver's side door, yanked it open and demanded money.
Harold says, "She grabbed me by the shirt and started hitting me, but the first thing she did was hit me real hard in the nose and blood went everywhere."
His wife Georgia says, "I couldn't believe it, he staggered in (to the grocery store) and he didn't see me and the whole store froze."
When the woman realized he didn't have any money, he says she kicked him in the face, staring at him eye to eye.
He says her eyes were cold.
Police have some leads on the case. They're reviewing the store's surveillance video.
The attack happened at 2 a.m.
Harold says they were there late because his wife was working on a big dinner for the next day and was missing some ingredients.
She was cooking for her son, who they hadn't seen for more than a year.
