KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Wyandotte County prosecutors upgraded the charges Tuesday against a Kansas City, Kan., man accused of abusing a 10-month-old child.
Anderson Cheffen, 31, is now charged with first degree murder in connection with the death of the child, which police say occurred as a result of physical abuse.
It happened on June 17 in Edwardsville, Kan.
Cheffen’s original charge was one count of abuse of a child.
Cheffen remains in custody in the Wyandotte County Jail in lieu of $1 million bond.
His next court hearing is set for July 21.
