RAYTOWN, Mo. – Blue Ridge Elementary School is honoring two former students who enjoyed playing basketball.
Amir and Gerard Clemons were murdered last spring in their aunt’s Raytown apartment.
Classmates then named the school basketball court in honor of the boys. But the school district said that violated school policy because permission wasn’t sought, and
officials painted over the court.
Sunday, Principal David Trewhitt and several teachers erected a small monument to the boys.
Next month, the principal plans to ask the school board to officially name the school’s sports playground, “Clemons Court”.
