ST. CLAIR, Mo. - Missouri National Guard troops who performed a dangerous duty in Iraq are now safe at home with their families.
KSDK-TV reported that more than 160 members of the 1175
th Military Police Company returned home on Sunday. The welcome back ceremony took place at St. Clair High School in eastern Missouri.
The soldiers had spent the last 12 months in Iraq. They patrolled what are considered some of the most dangerous roads in Iraq, located about two hours north of Baghdad.
The Missouri troops also helped run 37 police stations.
Not all of the National Guard soldiers are home for good. Some are expected to be deployed to Afghanistan.
