Where I live most drivers speed up to get through yellow lights even when the light is yellow way before they enter the intersection. Those respecting the law and stop but then get rear ended. The only way to avoid an accident is to accelerate through the already yellow light. I predict that those wanting to avoid a redlight ticket in the mail will stop but then get rear ended. This law will absolutely cause more accidents. And what about cities with snow and ice? Slamming on the brakes to avoid a ticket even when no traffic is around can easily create loss of control and more accidents. Why can't the city install lights that count down the seconds till the light turns red or yellow? I have seen them in other cities and love them! And..we must do something about the over population of deer that cause way too many accidents. This redlight thing is dangerous and should be banned.

MrMarine, my father also experienced a collision on his motorcycle due to a vehicle running a red light. He would have died if not for wearing his helmet. I am sorry to hear about what happened to you. However, this is not a good reason to put up cameras for the government to hire companies to spy on us. These cameras do not make us safer as they are not effective in detouring people from running red lights. This is a SCAM! by the government to generate revenue. Furthermore, if you think this is a good idea, what would you think about the government putting a camera in your house to make sure you are not breaking the law. If cameras were place d in every household in america, surely we could catch a lot more criminals. Let's do it for the children! WRONG! This is an invasion of privacy! It is another step in the wrong direction! I am proud that we have a Missouri Lawmaker that recognizes this SCAM for what it is and is taking steps to protect the individual rights of Missourians. I hope my representative will support him.

Some years ago I was coming into an intersection on the green light. A car coming from my right ran the red light in front of me on my motorcycle. There was no way to stop in time and I collided into the rear quarter panel of the car which left the scene. I received serious injuries and was in intense pain for weeks. I still bear scars and have lasting pain because some JERK decided to blow a red light. I can't believe a Missouri Lawmaker is so dumb to fight something that might protect other automobile and motorcycle riders. It's not rocket science people, don't run a red light and you don't get a ticket. It simply the law that we are all obligated to obey. Traffic laws and enforcement are put into effect to prevent deaths and injuries from vehicular accidents.
