LIBERTY, Mo. – As the husband of a missing northland mother was back in court on unrelated gun theft charges, the woman’s parents made another plea for information in her case.
Renee Pernice was last seen on Jan. 2. Police found her cell phone a few days later in Kansas City. Authorities believe the mother of two young boys is dead.
Her husband, Shon Pernice, is accused of disabling his neighbor’s basement door alarm and stealing a .22 caliber pistol. The case was continued until June 24.
Shon and his attorney left the Clay County Courthouse in Liberty without speaking to reporters.
Renee's parents are involved in a custody battle over her kids. Her sons are living with their dad. But Renee's parents claim he is an unfit father and is taking him to court to get custody. That trial is set for July 31.
After the brief court hearing Renee's family made a plea for information in her case.
"The people who pick up the rewards stay anonymous. They get cash. We feel that there's just no reason that the pople who have hidden Renee from us can't let us have her back and take the money," says Renee's father Rick Pretz.
The family is offering $25,000 for any information that leads to Renee. Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS.
